Kaleidoscope Shop was formerly part of the Veranda Historic Inn that Jan and Bobby Boal operated for eighteen years in Senoia, Georgia. The Kaleidoscope Shop has recently relocated to new quarters at 2186 Henderson Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30345 in Briarcliff Village -- just across Briarcliff Road from Northlake Mall. You will find thousands of scopes representing more than 100 different artists in the shop. NOTE: As limited edition scopes are sold, they will be removed from the website.

The Veranda Inn (now with new owners, Rick and Laura Reynolds) is still famous for its food and hospitality. Please visit them whenever you can (they kept our old phone number 770-599-3905). While at the Veranda, we had one of the largest collections of kaleidoscopes in the southeast, both for sale and for the entertainment of guests.

We (the Boals) are charter members of the national Kaleidoscope society, The Brewster Society , founded by Cozy Baker. The Veranda has hosted many regional meetings of the society as well as birthday parties for Cozy and other "scope" artists and collectors. At the May 1998 meeting of the society in Orlando, Florida, Cozy awarded our shop the first award presented to a dealer. Thus, the Kaleidoscope Shop at Briarcliff Village is a natural extension of a work begun many years ago.

Using words to describe a kaleidoscope is a lot like trying to describe a painting or a song. It seems to lose something in the translation. All the same, as we get started we are going to try to provide a Web site with enough pictures and descriptions to help you choose a kaleidoscope to add to your own collection or as a gift for someone who would enjoy having a precious scope of their own, even if you cannot come by to touch it and look through it in person.

In the past decade, collecting scopes has experienced a surge of interest across the country. Fortunately, the number of artists creating high quality scopes has grown to meet that need. We have built relationships with these artists. Today you can buy a scope to fit any taste and any budget. We can offer you almost everything: scopes with exteriors of polished brass, stained glass, exotic wood, or alabaster, painted or etched, simple or elaborate, perhaps decorated with patterns or rainbows or dragons. Interiors come 2-mirror, 3-mirror, 4-mirror and variations of all kinds. Kaleidoscope object cases may be dry or oil-filled and contain gems, glass, watch parts, feathers, shells, LEDs, beads, or almost anything. We have them all. NOTE: We also feature a number of outstanding non-kaleidoscope products.

It will take us a few weeks to get the pictures, prices, and descriptions together to give you the full experience. Please come by often to see how we are progressing. Don't wait until we get our collection on-line -- come visit our shop in Atlanta. We will do everything we can to help you choose a scope to your liking.

We do hope you will enjoy this new venture.
